I have a one of 50 or so 1972 W30 442 Convertible. The car is a 2 owner numbers matching Red with white top, stripes and interior. 73k on this beauty. When I purchased this car off the original owner in 95, I drove it on weekends until my son was born in 97. Although this car was beautiful and got compliments everywhere it went and won many trophies as it was, it just lacked that crispness of a restoration due to having some minor bumps and bruises that were repaired by the previous owner. Since I was very handy with body restorations myself I took the motor and tranny out to freshen them and took the nose off to help. My dream was always to wait until my son was old enough so we could restore this car together. As projects have a habit of doing, it laid and laid until just sitting around seemed to cause more wear and tare then if I had just driven the car. The old body work started coming threw here and there so I started to look for anything NOS I could find for the car. I collected 2 fenders, both door skins and the 2 quarter panels which have been stored in my basement. Friends and family beg me to just put the car back together and enjoy it but the car deserves to be done correctly and I will settle for no less. Here is where it gets tough. In 2005 I suffered a massive stroke leaving me paralyzed and in a wheelchair making it impossible to complete. I am a tremendous fan of the "Power Block" and love the work all of you do. A few years back I wrote to a few people looking for help to see this project threw and the one person that was interested and offered his help was Boyd Coddington who said that his shop was too busy to do the hands on but offered the materials but that was all over due to his untimely death. I have seen many cars and trucks done on your shows but never the replacement of full factory quarters or door skins. I believe it would make an interesting series with the obvious help my son and I would receive. I have many photos of the car to show this is in NO WAY a basket case but does need and deserve to be done. If there is any way you could help with this my son and I would be indebted to you for the rest of our lives.
