George Barris was one of the most famous of the TV car customizers, his Batmobile is probably at the top of a long list of cars he’s responsible for. His recent passing has renewed interest in his work and this T-Buggy just came up for sale, it’s a Barris design created during the dune buggy craze of the 60s and it is completely restored, looking period correct and perfect.

His plan at the time was to franchise shops where you could buy a T-Buggy or parts to build your own, he thought dune buggies would be the new hot rods of the 1960’s and he wanted to be well positioned to take advantage of the growing popularity of these fiberglass vehicles popping up everywhere. This buggy sits on a steel tube chassis and runs on Corvair power. It’s been completely restored and anyone who remembers those years will see how perfectly this exemplifies the whole dune buggy category.

I don’t remember these particular buggies becoming big sellers, but since it’s his personal prototype, I’m guessing this one will sell for a lot, especially in the fully restored condition it’s in.
