The Quadski, the exciting ATV that swims, that six years ago generated huge interest and enthusiasm, is now scheduled to finally go on sale in the USA by the end of this year. Powered by the BMW K1300 inline four cylinder engine driving the wheels and connected to a Gibbs jet drive for water operations, the 1180 pound Quadski will have a top speed of 45 mph on land and in the water.
Price for the amphibious ATV is expected to be approximately $40,000, not for everyone, but the Quadski should attract customers from around the country, though sales will be focused in Florida, Texas, the New York to Boston corridor and the Great Lakes region. Potential search and rescue applications should drive an appreciable portion of sales, as well. It is being assembled in Auburn Hills, MI.

I started to get excited about possible professional applications for search and rescue or military, but the 260 lb payload the website is showing would be a big limiter. For $40k, I would hope that I could carry a rider because I sure don’t see a pair of these in the garage/boat house.
