You put all of that time and money into your classic car and it makes you happy, but does it make you money? Well, now maybe it can! Rock and Roll Rides is promoting itself as an UBER for classic cars. They’re building an app letting users rent a classic car, either as a rider or a driver, though I’m not sure how many owners would be willing to turn over the wheel to an unknown person, I guess we’ll have to see how they work that out.
There’s a Kickstarter campaign now under way to fund the building of the app and lining up owners and users and figuring out whatever logistical issues they run into. I read through the project description and I’m having a little trouble figuring out exactly what they’re doing. They want to line up as many cities as possible with some sort of voting process, but it’s all a little fuzzy. You would have to have enough specialty vehicles ready to go to make this work in any area which is a challenge in itself. It’s not just classic cars, though, they also include exotics, boats and even helicopters, so they are ambitious, but, as I said, it’s a little unclear how this will work.
If you want to help get them started or need additional info, check them out over at Kickstarter.

Considering I got a flyer in the mail that specifically outlined how my insurance would *Not* cover anything related to (It didn’t say Uber, but, it meant Uber and similar businesses) I’m not sure how good an idea this might be.
Unless this company provides temporary insurance for the people who are renting out, or driving their cars for others…
They said something about insurance in the Kickstarter description, but like much of what they talk about, it’s not clear how this will work. I think I’ll wait and see.
